Wow, we’ve almost hit 50,000 supporters!

Thank you all so much for helping this petition grow beyond anything we could have expected. It is because of your support that we have managed to connect so many voices to call on the University of Oxford to respect human rights worldwide.

We will be delivering this petition to the University on Monday and asking them to:

1. Explain their initial decision not to place the Sultan’s Honorary Degree under consideration.
2. Review the Sultan’s Honorary Degree with a mind to rescind this.

3. Speak up for LGBTQ+ people in the real world, especially LGBTQ+ Muslims, people of colour, and trans folks. In the week following the Christchurch shootings, hate crimes against Muslims in the UK increased by 593%.(1) We therefore need to be proactive in standing up for the rights of people in Britain as well as Brunei, and work to challenge our own prejudices to foster a society where no one is persecuted for their ethnicity, religion, sexuality, gender identity, ability, or any other characteristic!
