We are now at over 500 signatures! Thank you to all those who have signed and shared, and to anyone fighting for fair treatment from UNH. The other MFAers and I, as well as UNH's law students, the Graduate Student Senate, and others are still working to change the wording of the agreement form, or--better yet--to get rid of it altogether. If you've attended the town halls (both the Big Brother censored one hosted by the provost and the People's Parity Project one), you know that the agreement form is not technically a waiver. It is, however still legally impactful. You are still signing away your right to safe learning and living conditions. Further, you are still agreeing to not fight for fair tuition should we move online--and as the provost and president have both laughed at the mention of lower tuition, you can be sure they won't give it to us easily.
President Dean makes $455,000 a year. That's a wage of about $230 an HOUR. (By comparison, NH's minimum wage is $7.25/hr.) If you still think asking for lower tuition isn't within your rights, remember that your tuition pays him that salary. Remember, too, that the previous president (Mark Huddleston) continued to collect a $425,000 salary the year AFTER he retired. Do NOT be bullied into silence. Fight on!
