Blake Baughman started this petition to University of Nevada

Colin Kaepernick has become one of the most impactful people in the fight against racial injustice in recent times, and has become a symbol to athletes everywhere to stand up for what they believe in. But before this, he alone kneeled in protest of the unjust system perpetuated in the United States against people of color. In recompense for his brave decision to attempt to make positive change, he was ostracized by the NFL and media alike for being “disrespectful” and “un-American.” For those who don’t know, before his professional career Colin Kaepernick attended the University of Nevada, Reno, where he played football and led the team to its best ever season with a 13-1 record. Today, Kaepernick’s image has been all but eradicated from the campus, with the only remaining reminder of his presence being a few minuscule pictures and plaques present in the campus football building. As a current football player and supporter of the Black Lives Matter movement, and on behalf of our entire team, we want to bring Colin Kaepernick’s image back to the university, as a symbol of bravery, racial equality, social advocacy, and athletic responsibility. It is time to give praise to a man with so many admirable traits who gave so much to the school in his time there, and who has given his entire public image in hopes to spark meaningful change in our country.
