Hi everyone! Thank you again for the overwhelming support for this petition. I didn't expect it to get so much traction, but I am glad to see there are so many people involved with/part of the UNL community who are willing to promote change and speak up about issues that matter to them.
The afternoon of June 18th I was contacted first by the Student Body President, Roni Miller, and later by the Director of Scholarships and Financial Aid, Justin Brown, regarding this petition. After a few emails, I believe we have reached a consensus; one that we were all hoping for! As far as I understand, current Regents scholars at UNL (awarded before fall 2020) will be receiving their original 135 credit hours with no additional forms to fill out. The emails (I think they're worth reading) that have been sent to me as of 1:00 AM on June 19th can be found in the Google Drive, linked at the bottom of this message. The University may send out an official message about this on June 19th.
Hopefully these emails resolve this conflict. I know for myself and many others this issue created a lot of uncertainty surrounding our financial and academic well-being, especially during a time of global upheaval. I am so thankful to hear that, at least for now, we can count on the Regents scholarship for support.
