The changes put by the University executive are counterproductive, opportunistic  and unnecessary. The current pastoral system in University of Bristol Halls such as those in Stoke Bishop, Clifton and City Centre is effective and important to students, it can be improved but not through complete replacement, Wardens, SRs and SSAs play a vital role in the hall community. Students choose Halls of residence because of its traditions, culture and collegiality, if the current system is lost, a great deal of the character of University will also be lost and students’ mental health and well-being will suffer.
