Remove University of Alberta’s billboard supporting climate change denial

The Issue

The University of Alberta has recently put up a billboard in west Edmonton that insinuates that climate change is a positive thing for Alberta’s agriculture industry, and, through cherry-picked data, galvanizes climate change denial. This is despite the overwhelming evidence demonstrating the potentially catastrophic consequences of unchecked global warming.  It is irresponsible that an institution of higher learning would present this misleading message, particularly in a province where the public acceptance of climate change is so low.

We demand that University of Alberta immediately remove this billboard and retract any related promotional material presenting a similar message. We also demand the University promptly issue a statement contextualizing the data presented on the billboard, and asserting its support for the scientific consensus on the negative consequences of anthropogenic climate change.
