The Issue

The unfolding global crisis impacts humanity across multiple levels—citizens, states, nations, and future generations. In the United States, communities are directly affected by escalating state–federal conflicts, political polarisation, violence, and erosion of democratic norms, exemplified by the Minnesota incident and growing resistance movements. Globally, populations in the Global South and liberal and conscientious Europe face intensified geopolitical instability, economic disruption, climate risks, and systemic injustice driven by hegemonic power structures and repeated violations of international norms. Marginalised communities, migrants, indigenous peoples, and vulnerable populations are disproportionately exposed to insecurity and institutional breakdown, while the broader human family confronts the existential risk of civilisational collapse.

If current trajectories continue unchanged, the world risks entering a phase of irreversible fragmentation marked by state secessions, geopolitical confrontation, erosion of international law, and accelerating planetary crises. The legitimacy and effectiveness of the United Nations may further deteriorate, leaving humanity without a credible mechanism for collective governance and peace. Conversely, a decisive transformation—through the declaration of an Earth Federation and the restructuring of the UN into a World Parliament under Global South leadership—offers the possibility of restoring global legitimacy, democratic planetary governance, and coordinated responses to existential threats. The stakes, therefore, are nothing less than the choice between systemic collapse and the emergence of a new civilisational framework grounded in shared sovereignty and collective survival.

The present moment represents a historic tipping point. The accelerating collapse of political legitimacy, the intensification of global resistance movements, and the symbolic urgency signalled by the resetting of the Doomsday Clock together underscore that incremental reforms are no longer sufficient. Delaying action until conventional political milestones risks missing the narrow window available for transformative change. Immediate mobilisation—through global awareness campaigns, invocation of Article 109 and Article 6 of the UN Charter, and the proactive declaration of Earth Federation—can generate momentum, legitimacy, and hope for a unified humanity. Acting now is not merely strategic; it is a precautionary necessity to avert a precipitous civilisational breakdown and to inaugurate a new planetary order based on justice, cooperation, and survival.
