Nipomo City Parks and scare tactics that residents are told. We are official near the end zone to make the US /EPA specifically aware of the dangers in Arroyo Grande Oil Field and near by homes & business. And the Oil/Gas Companies gross neglect on the environment overall in San Luis Obispo County. Folks, all you have to do is take a look around at the city of Nipomo as an example of a proposed oil/gas pipe line under a city park and near by residents and business. The cancer cluster in that town has been on the news channels for years and it is going to get worse if these plans from Arroyo Grande Oil Field Owners and the City is approved. On the outside, our life's path looks lazy and fun loving, although this is anything but the truth. People are selling their homes to be out of the path of a oil/gas line drilling under their homes and roadways leading up to a city park that is in great danger in Nipomo, once again by a neglectful oil/gas company owners. The decision by a court and an environmental impact evaluation from the US/EPA has NOT been done yet at the Arroyo Grande Oil Field at price canyon road. Yet, the residents are being pressured to accept this as a way of life for them already in Nipomo. I asked you as residents in Nipomo, do the council members and county of San Luis Obispo have a financial stake in this decision. Yes, indeed they do!!! Look up Erin Brockovich she criticizes the Nipomo Water District already. Listen up folks, we need to fix the problems we have now in Nipomo without getting the Oil/Gas Companies involved in it. They are not our saviors, they are our nightmares. One reason that life seems so carefree for the Oil/Gas Company standpoint is that their don't sweat the small stuff like us. The Oil/ Gas Companies does not see the big picture, only the big bucks rolling in for them. Their motto is “HAKUNA MATATA”, which of course means, no worries. The big question of the year is how much is the County of San Luis Obispo going to benefit from leasing the park to an Oil / Gas Company, in Nipomo. The residents must demand the confirmed details about the negotiations that are being conducted beyond closed doors. Not only do they want to drill near and under the city park in Niopomo, but the county and city will collect royals as well. The financial gain will be in the amount of millions of dollars for the SLO County. As the residents will suffer many consequences of these underhanded deals. That will force people to move out, have contamination water and land, years of nobody taking real responsibility for the spills, cracks and leaks, lost of property value and life. If you are a resident of Nipomo and are fearful of all of the scenarios I mentioned above demand the negotiation contracts and the value amount of royals that the city will be payed. Then you can be sure that this deal is not in your best interests. The city has sold out the neighborhood near the city park were the underground oil/gas and drilling will take place. It would be most likely that the city would get paid allegedly the sum of $500.000 per month or more for leasing the park and royalty payments per oil wells/pipes. It is critical that the residents understand that you have to fight this all the way to the Governor, City Planning Department, Water Board and US/EPA. And have the newspapers come and interview you about the scare tactics that the oil company and others are telling you and your family. When it is all said and done the environmental concerns and unknown effects outweigh any benefits, including the money that the city would get for making this deal behind our backs.
