United States: Create a $2 Coin!

United States: Create a $2 Coin!
The Issue
The United States should introduce a $2 coin into its currency system, joining many other countries, such as Canada, Australia, and the European Union, counties whose successfully-implemented 2-unit coins are immensely popular and well-received by the public.
A $2 coin will significantly reduce the burden of carrying excessive numbers of single dollar bills. This will streamline everyday transactions, reducing the inconvenience for both consumers and retailers. This isn’t the 19th century. A dime’s not gonna get you anywhere. Imagine the convenience of paying for a small purchase with fewer coins.
In addition, coins are far more durable than paper currency. Bills last only one or two decades, sometimes even less, before being removed from circulation. Coins can last over half a century. This translates to cost savings for the U.S. government, as fewer replacements will need to be produced over time, lowering costs for the Bureau of Engraving and Printing.
Finally, a new coin could carry cultural value by featuring designs that celebrate milestones or prominent figures of American history, adding sentimental value and public interest.
It's time for American currency to enter the 21st century. Sign this petition to encourage lawmakers and the U.S. Treasury to explore the benefits and initiate the creation of a $2 coin that could modernize and improve our currency system for everyone.
