Since the first recorded police death in 1786, there have been more than 24,000 law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty. Just this year alone, we've lost 140.

I am petitioning for a National Holiday to honor all law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty. That Holiday would take place yearly on October 7. I understand we have "Law Enforcement Appreciation Week" which is for ALL law enforcement. And there's Peace Keepers Memorial Day on May 15, however it's not a national holiday and it's for fallen and injured. I'm petitioning for an actual National Holiday.

Supporting and honoring our LEO's is my passion in life. They leave home each and every day, not knowing if they will never make it back home. They leave their families, to serve and protect ours. Being a law enforcement officer isn't just a job. It's a calling. I've also witnessed firsthand how stressful and dangerous their job really is.
