Since Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick lost her bid to become Arizona's senator in place of John McCain, her seat was won by Freshman Congressional Representative Tom O'Halloran. His office has been extremely attentive to the issues raised in this petition, and the Congressman has offered to meet with me. I am attempting to reach the chairs of the Senate Budget Committee and the House Ways and Means Committee as these are the Committees with oversight of Medicare and Social Security. Rep. O'Halloran's office has kindly produced the email addresses of their schedulers and I am trying to set up a meeting in Washington, DC where I can present the petition to them and make the case for a legislative change that will give people with rare diseases who must rely on government-assisted RX plans the opportunity to get direct financial assistance from the manufacturers of their otherwise unaffordable lifesaving medications.
