European Union Withholds Direct Financial Aid to Burundi

Dear friends: I am so thrilled that your voices are being heard. Yesterday, we learned of an important decision from The European Union (EU) organization. As the world continues to put pressure on the government of Burundi to make every efforts possible to stop any kind of human rights abuses; the Burundian government did not manage to protect its citizens. As a result, EU stated yesterday, Monday, March 14, 2016 that Burundi commitments to resolve the current crisis in that country were not sufficient to address European Union’s concerns on human rights abuses prevailing now in Burundi. A significant step, EU is suspending its assistance to the government of Burundi. Please note EU funds at least half of the annual budget of Burundi. Of course citizens of Burundi are victims of this situation but at least the EU decision will call other nations and United Nations to collectively and rapidly help to resolve the conflicts in Burundi preventing innocent people from being killed and becoming victims of injustice and hunger of power. Keep the momentum, we are almost there.
