1.     What does IlanaUK actually do?
We are a patriotic Yoruba community group.

o   The objects of IlanaUK are to pursue directly and exclusively, non-profit making activities including campaigning, petitioning, seeking to influence public opinion, and making representations to governmental and other bodies and institutions, directed at enhancement of the culture, education, health, happiness, well-being, and fortunes of the Yoruba people.

One of the many benefits of joining ÌlànàUK is the benefit of learning how to speak, read and write in Yorùbá language.
o   We promote our language amongst the diaspora - both young and old. We have a Yorùbá language class which takes place every Sunday between 8pm and 9pm. Membership registration is required in order to participate. Join us at www.ilanauk.org click on membership to register. The class is free but donations to ÌlànàUK will be thankfully received in order to enable ÌlànàUK to continue to deliver this class in addition to many other activities in the pipeline.

A cookery class is in the final stages of planning.
o   We want to popularize Yoruba cuisines in the UK. We have cuisines that could be of international interest – Joloff rice, asaro, dundu (yam chips), akara, moinmoin, puffpuff and so on

We are embarked on a program to make the Yoruba known to people in the UK.
We believe that when they know who we are, they would know what they have done to us; they would know why they have to assist us now and, in the future, as they assisted and still today assist the Jews.

o   We have mega rallies planned for June 12 at Trafalgar Square in London and June 14 at Brussels, the EU capital. Large turnout please.

o   We have meetings arranged with UK parliamentarians to educate them about the humanity and innate nature of the Yoruba people.

o   We are planning court cases in London. We want to enforce the 1888 treaty of defence and friendship that Queen Victoria signed with the Alaafin of Oyo as Head of the Yoruba Nation. We want to revoke the 1914 the amalgamation of Nigeria. It was a fraud perpetrated by two people; the Colonial Secretary Harcourt and Lugard. They had gone rogue and on a frolic of their own.

2.     What you need to know about Ilana
o   Ilana is short for Ilana Omo Oodua.

o   Professor Akintoye founded Ilana Omo Oodua as a family tent (Ago) with different Chapters (Ibugbe). The Yoruba Homeland has 8 chapters, which coincide with the present 8 Yoruba states. Each country in the world (the Diaspora) can have its own Chapter.

o   IlanaUK is the Ilana Chapter of the United Kingdom. Members of IlanaUK have registered it as a company to ensure that it is professionally run and business-like in all its dealings.

o   Professor Akintoye envisaged each Chapter to be totally self-governing but under a binding Omoluabi philosophy, and engaged in law-abiding activities for self-determination for the Yoruba people.

o   Professor Akintoye, as the historian that he is, envisaged the Ilana tent to be similar in organisation to the ancient Yoruba empire, which was composed of autonomous city states.

o   The Ilana family tent itself has a management unit called the Worldwide Executive Council whose job it is to receive periodic reports from each Chapter and to disseminate those reports. There is also an advisory unit called the Elders Advisory Council comprising of reputable and eminent Yoruba personalities of influence in each of the Chapters.
