Push for Polar Platforms

Push for Polar Platforms
The Issue
Climate change and melting polar ice caps, particularly in the Arctic is now at the forefront of our minds. Over decades our impact on our environment is reaching crisis point. The United Nations will be holding a Climate Change Summit in September 2019. I would like the feasibility of Polar Platforms to be discussed amongst attendees as a possible viable solution to one of the many environmental crises our world is currently facing.
Intervention and solutions to global problems are complex. It is not only about everyday people making changes to improve the climate change crisis we also need to be supported by our governments and our governments working together to implement the changes that are necessary. We are beginning to change, our impact has taken decades to create and will take decades to resolve.
It has recently been documented that we have lost 40% of the ice that's in the Arctic over the summer months; that our endangered species such as the polar bear are struggling to adapt to their new environment that lies before them quick enough to survive; that they drown due to lack of sea ice to rest on and are struggling to hunt as the sea ice terrain is now so flat; hundreds and thousands of walrus' need more sea ice for rest and breeding and are even struggling to climb 80ft cliffs for space and jumping off at this height to return to the sea; many of them being unsuccessful.
I put before you now an intervention that could be implemented quickly to improve what is currently occurring in the Arctic as a temporary measure whilst we continue to work towards improving climate change. They are called "Polar Platforms" - man made, interlinked, anchored masses which could be made out of environmentally sustainable materials and made for different terrains. Not only helping to protect endangered species to adjust to their ever-changing environment due to the climate change crisis the platforms would also provide an opportunity for environmentalists and researches to continually study and monitor the wildlife by placing camera/film equipment on the platforms which would be hidden and non-invasive. Sonar equipment could also be attached to the anchors of the platforms to collect data regarding the ocean itself and would also provide us with ways of monitoring sea levels and temperatures and a means of maintaining the platforms safely. With a white coverage the platforms would also help to decrease raised sea temperatures by providing the reflective cover which is being lost due to climate change.
A monitoring team and station would be needed to maintain the platforms. During high seas and bad weather they could be detached for safety and GPS tracked to be retowed to their correct positions.
Nations would all be accountable for the cost implications of such an action but as stated previously this is only a temporary intervention.
I am a 41 year old mum of one with an idea. It is a proactive intervention on ways that we can protect the world we ALL live in for generations to come.
