Hello,I'm Paul Thomas Morijo from Tanzania a founder and the director of a non profit organization called Loliondo Actions for Green Earth working in Tanzania in Ngorongoro district among the people called Masai a pastoral community,the organization is working to address the issues of climatic changes and involve the community in conservation of our environment but mostly involve students in environmental conservation activities since these students are our tomorrow leaders and tomorrow citizens, I'm signing this petition to ask for the support to our project plant a tree and sustainable environmental education to solve two problems in my community, one problem is overgrazing since Masai are livestock keepers its a prestige to a single person to have many cows but also to Masai people wealth is measured by the number of cattle a person can have this become a problems due to the increase of people in the district but also due to the fact that ngorongoro district has a big land covered by Ngorongoro Conservation area, Loliondo game controlled areas and some part is covered by Serengeti national parks hence led to shortage of grazing land this sometimes force livestock keepers to take their cattle in national parks and controlled areas to search for pasture and water something always bring conflict between community members and the government, overgrazing also cause destruction of the environment especially to the land and forest we are educating them on the impacts caused by overgrazing and teach them how they can carry sustainable economic activities without harm our environment. The second problem is deforestation which highly taking place within the district due to high dependency on forest for firewood an charcoal but also clearing of forests to open new farms land and enlarging them, this is the other challenge we want to solve by build the community capacity to access and use alternative sources of energy especially environmental friendly energy like solar energy,this will reduce and will totally stop on forest for firewood and charcoal but also involve the community in planting new trees in degraded forests.
