It is controversial that what will happen to humankind when such thing as a General Artificial Intelligence (AI) appear. It could be either the last invention that humans need to make, or the end to the humanity as we know. 

While the philosophers, legislators, programmers are still debating the impact of such appearance, I believe that it is a potential threat to the survival of all humanity. Unlike such global threat as climate change, the evolution of General AIs could theoretically lead to the extinction of humankind in an instant. We need to scrutinise the possibilities before we reach the point of no turning back.

Even if the possibility is minimal, it is the lives of more than 7 billion individuals we are talking about. Most of them are too busy with daily life that they do not aware of such danger and do not raise their voices. I believe it is not fair that we put their lives on the line without their consent.

I, therefore, urge for a global ban on General AIs development until we can understand the situation better.
