Remove Politics (Church & Society) from the United Methodist Church

The Issue

The United Methodist Church and its subgroup,  Church and Society (see @umcjustice on Twitter) are using members tithing and apportionment funds to lobby Congress and push a left wing political agenda. The issues it supports mirror the Democrat platform. For years, Methodist members have been told we cannot speak politics at the pulpit yet at the same time, the deceptive UMC has been pushing left wing politics with our offerings at the Corporate level. This is hypocritical and deceptive. All Methodists should have a say in how our apportionments and offerings should be used; they should know that the UMC is representing them politically on a national level. The UMC position it currently represents for all members is the left wing Democrat position. Recall that the Democrats voted to remove God from its platform just a few years ago, but were pressured to change their stance.

We want the United Methodist Church to stop its political activity; we want the UMC to stop speaking politically for all Methodist membership; we want our apportionments and tithing to not be used to pay the salaries and activities of the left wing political arm of the UMC- “Church and Society” (@umcjustice on Twitter); we want the UMC to focus on its mission of spreading the good news of Jesus to everyone and stop dividing us politically.
