Lixir Drinks petitions for G&T emoji!

The Issue

GIN LOVERS UNITE! We're modern mixer brand Lixir Drinks and we want you to have the emoji you deserve!

In the early 1750s, the British people were drinking so much Gin that it became a public health crisis, leading to the introduction of the Gin Act.

We have over 3600 emojis available on our devices, including popular drinks such as whisky, wine and beer. We even have less useful emojis such as: tiki cocktail, a teacup with no handle, five different umbrellas, nine different books and ten different flowers!

Enough already! It is time for the Gin and Tonic to stop being overlooked. We at Lixir Drinks are a modern mixer brand and we want the drink to have the emoji it deserves.

We are aiming to collect 10,000 signatures to present to Unicode in line with International Gin and Tonic Day.

To support the petition, we have created a Gin and Tonic emoji graphic: a balloon glass containing a clear liquid with the traditional slice of lime as a garnish. If Unicode accepts our call for the Gin and Tonic emoji addition, this very graphic could be used worldwide.

If you want to support our plea, sign this petition (don't forget to confirm your signature via the automated email otherwise it won't count - check your junk mail if you don't see it) and then share it far and wide. We can't do this without the help of the nation's G&T lovers, so let's get #JusticeForGin!
