I am a current SCAD student, the upcoming year I will be a junior. In the procedure of getting On-campus, you pay a housing deposit of $750 which is non-refundable. The university this year has taken a different approach to housing inconsistently communicating with students about housing registration dates and when the registration will open. With the overflow of the Freshman class of 2027 filling up the housing spots it has left many upperclassmen, that paid the deposit stranded without proper housing. Rules considered by SCAD that makes you not eligible for fall housing include payment:  

after the April 10, 5:30 p.m. ET deadline; or 
on time but did not send your housing application before the housing selection began; or 
on time but currently live off campus 
 

Taking note of the last two bullet notes, are fault in error in SCAD’s communication and thoughtless actions towards Upperclassman. Traditionally emails are meant to be sent out after payment has been processed, students that received those emails late by default made their application late as well. Students that are a part of the SCADNOW course are at the bottom of the barrel. SCAD has done nothing to resolve this issue and many calls have been made to registration where they put RA’s in duty to answer angry students and cursing parents. SCAD has made false promises to many of the students, knowing the overflow of first-year students they accepted into the upcoming school year; CHEATING students out of the $750 deposit that is meant to be a placeholder for On-Campus living.  

This petition is being made on behalf of ALL students who have been cheated out of their money by SCAD in hopes that the institution will make this right! Please sign this petition whether you are student yourself, a parent, an affiliate, or innocent bystander. SCAD GIVE US OUR MONEY BACK!
