Petition updatePETITION TO THE CITY OF LWB COMMISSIONERS RE: EXCESSIVE PCA TO ELECTRIC RATECOMMENT TO BE READ AT OCTOBER 25TH UTILITY MEETING OF BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS!

This comment is regarding Item N on the meeting agenda referencing Power Cost Adjustment (PCA) for the Utility meeting to be held on October 25 2022.

There are several published explanations as to how the Power Cost Adjustment increase was calculated and when it was implemented. None of these conform with reality!

I would like to begin this comment with a statement made by a member of this Board of Commissioners. In a statement prepared for public release on October 23, 2022, Vice Mayor McVoy reports this statement “Starting in September, the July 26 increase in the “Power Cost Adjustment” raised residential bills by 16% to 18%”.

There are two major false claims here within. The first being when the Power Cost Adjustment was implemented. My bills show the increase going back as far as the May billing – NOT the September billing, as the Vice Mayor claims in his statement

The second being the size of the Power Cost Adjustment. My bills show an increase of 56% going back as far as the May billing – NOT the 16 to 18% the Vice Mayor claims in his statement.

The attached breakdown example of my actual May and June bills (both bills were almost the same) will evidence both of these false claims! It leaves me, for one, wondering if the Vice Mayor is paying attention to what is actually going on with the Public Utility his Board of Commissioners manages and he sits on!

How does the Board of Commissioner explain and justify the obvious deviations from their public claims and reality?

BREAKDOWN OF MY MAY & JUNE 2022 ELECTRIC BILL

BASED UPON 2452 kWh USAGE both months

1000 kWh @ $.07                                                        $    70.00

1452 kWh @ $.09                                                        $  130.68

Total 2453 kWh                                                           $   200.68

As the Board says was charged

Power Cost Adjustment @ 18%                                  $    36.12

How I was actually charged

Power Cost Adjustment @ 56%                                  $  112.38

The actual Power Cost Adjustment implemented is both excessive and unwarranted from the Boards own published calculations. The hardships and burdens they have created for many rate payers, are a crisis and will be life changing, for the worse for many. For the remainder of the rate payers, it is just plain wrong and will not go unchallenged!

I would like to respectfully remind this Board and it\s members: You ran for your Commission seat because you wanted to do the job – We voted you to your Commission seat because we entrusted you to do the job! So far you have failed, us miserably

As the owners of this Utility, we the rate payers, demand a satisfactory and totally transparent  accounting of where this large sum of money is and what it is doing. If you cannot accomplish this, the funds should be reimbursed to the rate payers to alleviate the burden and hardship it created and right the wrong done to the rate payers!

Thank you for your time!  .
