Hector Lopez was a Dining Staff member and an Aramark employee at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, where he proudly worked for 12 years. Hector was a fun-loving, engaging, and compassionate individual well-loved by all students, faculty, and staff. For many students, he was what made UNCSA home.

On June 12th, 2024, UNCSA announced that Hector had unexpectedly passed away. Alumni flooded UNCSA's Facebook page with tributes and stories about a wonderful man who made every student's day with a smile, a joke, or a rousing shout of OOOPPPPAAAAA! To many, Hector was the best part of UNCSA.

To honor Hector Lopez, we petition UNCSA to name the dining hall in Hanes Student Commons in his name to keep his legacy alive at the institution he loved.
