Affordable On-Campus Housing Petition at UNC Greensboro (2021-2022)

Affordable On-Campus Housing Petition at UNC Greensboro (2021-2022)
The Issue
The purpose of this petition is to obtain UNC Greensboro campus housing at a fair rate for former Tower Village residents who want to live in apartment style housing.
At UNC Greensboro, students who previously lived on campus in the Tower Village apartments during the Fall 2020 semester were involuntarily displaced and dispersed around campus to different housing situations. Tower Village served as an affordable housing option for apartment living on-campus, and recently, UNC Greensboro made the decision to keep Tower Village closed for the 2021-2022 school year to be used as designated quarantine rooms, a direct result of the Covid-19 pandemic that continues to run rampant in the US. Essentially, the Tower Village housing location is no longer an option for students who are unable to afford newer, higher end apartment housing in Spartan Village.
We, the organizers of this petition, are willing to offer two reasonable options as potential solutions to this issue:
1) UNC Greensboro adjusts housing prices to allow former Tower Village residents who choose to retain their Spartan Village apartments for the same price as the Tower Village apartments
or 2) Additional financial assistance for students who cannot afford the higher priced apartments.
Even if you are not directly affected by this issue, we encourage you to sign this petition to help the UNC Greensboro students who are affected. We are your friends, peers, and study buddies! Let's come together to help each other out during this unprecedented and difficult time.
