Undo the Roblox chat changes for a safer gaming experience for children.

The Issue

As a concerned parent, I initially turned off the Roblox chat feature to ensure my child's safety in the virtual world. Knowing that online interactions can pose risks, I was relieved when the chat was made stricter, meaning users need to use a verification to determine their age range...thinking it provided an extra layer of protection.

However, this measure has led to an unexpected and concerning workaround: The introduction of text signs in games.

These text signs allow players to communicate through messages displayed in the game environment, bypassing the previous safety settings I relied upon.

As a result, the very mechanism intended to protect young users has become ineffective. The creators of Roblox games, in pursuit of keeping engagement and communication alive, have accidentally increased vulnerability, making it more unsafe than before.

Statistics show that in-game communication is a common channel for inappropriate content and online predators. A study by Internet Matters indicates that 60% of parents are worried about online safety in gaming environments. The fact that text signs are not part of the original chat moderation makes it a hidden threat that must be addressed immediately.

We urge Roblox to reconsider the chat changes and instead focus on strengthening moderation measures. Robust chat monitoring and enhanced parental controls are essential to create a safer platform for children. By reinstating the chat, we can eliminate the need for text signs and ensure all communications are subject to safety screenings.

Let's ensure that Roblox remains a place where children can enjoy creative and safe gaming.

Please sign this petition to urge Roblox to roll back the chat changes and implement stronger protective measures along with an agreement that developers are not permitted to allow 'text signs' to be in their games.

Together, we can make a difference for the safety and enjoyment of all young players.
