After sending a lengthy email to the Royal Parks explaining my concerns and the blatant disregard of the rules by the police.
Also in the video I came across which inspired me to start this petition the police officer can be heard saying they have been given a specific spot to pray.
Here is the reply I received:
Thank you for your email.
In response to the recent events at Speakers’ Corner, we would like to reaffirm that The Royal Parks has not changed its longstanding policy forbidding collective religious activity in the parks and there are no plans to do so. However, this is not an explicit regulation itself. The regulation under which the policy sits prohibits the organisation of any assembly etc without written permission.
It is for the police to enforce the park regulation relating to illegal assembly. The police are operationally independent, but we continue to work closely with them to ensure the Royal Parks are open to all.
Kind regards,
Now not only does it state in the police's regulations book, on the royal parks policies and the royal park have confirmed themself "The Royal Parks has not changed its longstanding policy forbidding collective religious activity in the parks and there are no plans to do so". So why is it being aloud to happen?
"It is for the police to enforce the park regulation relating to illegal assembly". So why aren't they?? WHO IS ALLOWING THIS TO CONTINUE?
The police officer in the last video update I done was heard saying "plans and talks are in place" regarding the rules.
Now I just come across THE ROYAL PARKS REGULATIONS CONSULTATION DATED FEBRUARY 2018...
The Royal Parks would like to hear your views on suggested amendments to The
Royal Parks Regulations.
The suggested amendments are available in full on our website, at www.
royalparks.org.uk/whats-on/latest-news/consultation-on-amendments-to-the-
royal-parks-regulations
They include:
• Introduction of a 20mph speed limit for motor vehicles in Hyde Park, The
Regent’s Park, St James’s Park and The Green Park.
• Increase in parking charges in all public car parks in Hyde Park, The Regent’s
Park and Greenwich Park.
• Introduction of ticketless and cashless payments for car parking.
• Minor drafting amendments to clarify the intention of existing regulations,
including making it explicit that drones are prohibited outside designated
areas in the Royal Parks without written permission, and that barbeques
and fireworks are not allowed to be lit in the Royal Parks without written
permission.
THERE IS NO DISSCUSSION TO ALLOW PRAYING AND IN THE PARK'S REPLY THERE ARE BO DISSCUSSIONS IN PLACE AND NO PLANS O CHANGE THE RULES.
SO WHY HAS THIS OFFICER LIED AND NOT ENFORCED THE RULES AS HE SHOULD BE DOING!!
