In a powerful letter written by us and published in The Independent, over 40 politicians, academics, journalists and civil society leaders, including Liz Saville Roberts MP, Caroline Lucas MP, and Professor AC Grayling, have called for Westminster to follow Wales’s lead in legislating against deliberate factual deception by politicians.
The Welsh government has already committed to disqualifying or barring candidates who deliberately mislead the public. This bold step is a model for the UK, where political trust is at an all-time low.
