As this turbulent political year comes to an end, we at Compassion in Politics want to say a huge thank you to you for your invaluable support this year and share with you some of what your support has enabled us to do this year.
Take a look at our highlights and thank you for being part of this vital mission.
Highlights
1️⃣ Wales Tackles Political Lies
Wales will introduce a law to disqualify politicians who knowingly deceive the public. This is a global first and the culmination of a four-year campaign by Compassion In Politics involving politicians from all parties. Thank you to everyone who shared, donated, or contacted their MS. Now, Westminster, it’s your turn.

2️⃣ Improving Parliament
We took our ideas for a less adversarial and more effective and inclusive Parliament straight to the Speaker, calling for changes like reforming Prime Minister’s Questions to reduce conflict.
3️⃣Civility Pledge
Together with the Jo Cox Foundation, we launched the Civility Pledge that anyone in politics can sign to commit to engage in politics with compassion, honesty and civility. It’s the first step in a wider piece of work to help rebuild trust in democracy and reduce hate and polarization.
4️⃣ Groundbreaking Report
Together with 50:50 Parliament, we have written a detailed blueprint outlining key recommendations to make Parliament more inclusive and effective. It’s already been submitted to Parliament and won the backing of commentators like Alastair Campbell and MPs like Kim Leadbeater.
5️⃣ Highlighting a Mental Health Crisis The Radio 4 documentary, Broken Politics. Broken Politicians, presented by our Co-director, revealed the growing mental health challenges in politics and their risks to democracy. It’s a must-listen.
6️⃣ Global Compassionate Leadership
From Bosnia to Brazil, our training on resilience and compassionate leadership reached leaders worldwide this year.
7️⃣ Clean Up Politics Coalition
To maximize impact and avoid duplication we lead a coalition of civil society groups and campaigners. We are so grateful to all the organizations and individuals we work with including the Democracy Network, 50:50 Parliament, Centenary Action Group; the Apolitical Foundation and the Compassionate Mind Foundation to name just a few.
8️⃣ Compassion on the World Stage
We spoke at major events like the Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference in Australia and the G20 Wellbeing Summit, spreading our vision internationally.
9️⃣ In the Media Spotlight
From Sky News to The Guardian, we’ve kept compassion front and centre in national conversations about trust and democracy.
🔟 Webinars with Impact
Our new webinar series brings together experts and those with left experience to tackle pressing issues like the rise of the far right and the loneliness epidemic. Stay tuned for more events in 2025!
