Hopefully together we can put pressure on the UK government to change the law on acid attack sentencing, as currently it is woefully lacking. Please, please keep sharing this petition, and encouraging others to share it. This is the key to getting enough signatures to be taken seriously by the decision makers we are targeting - The British Parliament and Amber Rudd MP, the British Home Secretary. Remember, this is not a crime which targets women or men. Although women in south Asian cultures are targeted by men using acid as a so-called 'honour' punishment, an increasing number of men in western nations also find themselves the victim of acid attacks by female partners or ex-partners. Mark Van Dongen was one such man, who recently died in hospital - two years after being left with 80% burns to his body, after his ex-girlfriend poured sulphuric acid over his face and body while he slept. Lets get together and force the government to implement a real deterrent to would-be acid attackers, before we see an epidemic or acid violence on our streets.
