A timeline arrives

Dear Industry Colleague 

Last week the government announced a start date for our sector, explaining that conferences would be able to happen again from October, subject to successful pilots - good news for us all, and thanks to the organisations who have joined us in lobbying the government for these overdue changes, and to everyone who has supported this campaign.

In the midst of this, confusion remains - we know people are unsure about what can and can’t happen right now. So we have read the new law and the new guidance to clarify the current position in this blog post. 

The short answer is that some business events of up to 30 people are currently allowed. 

Meanwhile, and with your feedback as ever,  we have updated our Safer Events - A Framework for Action white paper with measures which we will continue to feed directly into DCMS, and which continue to inform our venue and event organisers accreditations and digital training. 

We remain grateful to the 1500+ events businesses following this framework, who continue to follow and give feedback on this guidance to ensure it is always the gold standard for practical advice for safe re-opening - to everyone who has taken the time to speak to us, thank you. 

Finally, we wanted to let you know that despite this positive news, we do not consider this campaign to be over. There are difficult months ahead, and we must continue to keep the pressure up. 

Martin Fullard and the Mash Media team hosted a summit of industry leaders at the Victory Services Club last week, which saw positive engagement across the board. We can promise that we will continue to fight for the recognition at government level that this industry deserves.
