Uk government to combat violence against women and girls

The Issue

I have one question to put forward and your answer will determine whether or not you sign this petition.

Are women and girls still considered human beings?

There are many ways to answer this question. It isn’t as straightforward as yes or no. Because the law says yes, biology would say yes, scientists would say yes. Basically, the easy way out of reading this is yes.

BUT are we treated like human beings? No. Are all humans equal? No. Do we feel like human beings? No.

Now, you might be reading this and thinking “what do you mean you don’t feel like human beings?”. Well you see, even at this day and age after hundreds of years of being oppressed…here we are. The uk is not a safe place for women and girls. Violence against women and girls has been declared a nation emergency, we still don’t get equal pay, we are raped and assaulted, we are beaten or even killed over football matches (yes, I know…football matches!), we are being harassed online, catcalled in the street, boys as young as school age are telling little girls to “go back to the kitchen”. There is FAR too much misogyny in this world!

Therefore, I am putting forward this petition to the public. We want more to be done. So this message is for the UK Government when they see this. This is what we NEED as women.

  • work harder to combat violence against women and girls
  • fund women’s charities such as women’s aid and rape crisis to create safe spaces
  • stronger sentences for perpetrators of abuse, rape, violence and predatory behaviour
  • More education on consent and the importance of consent in ALL learning facilities
  • EQUAL PAY in EVERY work place to be mandatory
  • decriminalise abortions

These are BASIC human rights that women and girls DESERVE! We are so sick of waiting for something to be done, we are sick of waiting to be acknowledged and we are sick of feeling uncomfortable in the place that we call home! This is just a few of the MANY things that we as women should have.

We are ashamed to be part of such a “progressive” country when we aren’t even acknowledged in its progression.
