PROTEST FOR FARMERS AND FOOD STANDARDS - SEPTEMBER 19TH

Our food standards, our health, our countryside, our communities and our language are under threat. The Westminster government's 3-pronged attack on agriculture - between the Agriculture Bill, the Trade Bill, and an increasingly inevitable No-Deal Brexit - is going to devastate Welsh farming, endangering our food sovereignty, our environment and our identity in the process.
In May, MPs voted to reject an amendment to the Agriculture Bill that would protect our food standards in any future trade deals - an amendment with support from farming unions, environmental groups, consumer protection groups and every political party in Parliament except the Conservatives - opening the door to unsafe, unethical food imports that will undercut Welsh produce.
While several Conservative MPs rebelled, the majority - including every single Welsh Conservative - voted to sign away our standards to appease Donald Trump and the US big-agri lobby.
Their excuse? "Imports standards will be addressed in the Trade Bill."
They were not.
With both Bills currently in the House of Lords and the UK Parliament about to restart after the summer recess, now is the time to make our voices heard. If the bills pass unamended, it will be the end of small Welsh farming, along with the communities and the Welsh language that they sustain.

On the 19th of September at 2pm, farmers will gather at markets and farms across Wales to stage a "go-slow" demo around rural towns, before returning to the markets at 2:30 for a socially distanced rally with supporters and speakers.

Cardigan
Ruthin
Anglesey

The Westminster government think that they can hand over our agriculture to extractive, unethical monopolies that will exploit our land and our rural communities - already some of the poorest places in Europe - without a fight. We must prove them wrong.

Mae ymosodiad 3-rhan Llywodraeth San Steffan ar amaeth Cymraeg - rhwng y Bil Amaeth, y Bil Masnachu a'r tebygolrwydd cynyddol o Brecsit "Dim-Dêl" - yn mynd i ddinistrio ffermio Cymreig, yn peryglu ein sofraniaeth bwyd, ein amgylchedd a'n hunaniaeth yn y broses.
Ym mis Mai, pleidleisiodd AS San Steffan i wrthod gwelliant i'r Bil Amaeth i warchod ein safonau bwyd mewn unrhyw gytundeb masnach yn y dyfodol - gwelliant gyda chefnogaeth undebau ffermio, mudiadau amgylcheddol, sefydliadau amddiffyn defnyddwyr a phob prif plaid gwleidyddol heblaw am y Ceidwadwyr - ac felly agor y drws i fewnforion anniogel, anfoesegol a fydd yn tandorri cynnyrch Cymraeg.
Er bod sawl AS Ceidwadol wedi gwrthryfela, gwnaeth y mwyafrif - gan gynnwys pob AS Ceidwadol Cymreig - bleidleisio i ildio ein safonau bwyd i Donald Trump a'r lobi big-agri Americanaidd.
Eu hesgus? "Ymdrinnir â safonau mewnforion yn y Bil Masnachu."
Doedd dim sôn amdanynt yn y Bil Masnachu.
Gyda'r ddau Fil yn Nhŷ'r Arglwyddi, a San Steffan ar fin ail agor ar ôl y toriad haf, nawr yw'r amser i godi ein lleisiau. Os ydy'r biliau yma'n pasio heb welliant, bydd hi'n ddiwedd ar ffermio traddodiadol Cymreig a'r cymunedau a'r iaith mae'n eu cynnal.

Ar Ddydd Sadwrn y 19ed o Fedi am 2y.p, bydd ffermwyr yn ymgynnull mewn marchnadoedd a ffermydd ar draws Cymru i gychwyn ar "go-slow" tractorau o amgylch trefi gwledig, cyn dychwelyd i'r marchnadoedd am 2:30y.p am rali (gyda pellter cymdeithasol) gyda chefnogwyr a llefarwyr lleol.
