Mountfields Post Office in Taunton is under threat of closure with a proposal to set up a Post Office counter service  within Upper Holway Rd Spar shop. 
The Postmaster David has worked for the Post Office for around 32 years and knew nothing about this proposal until he received a leaflet last week asking him to explain to his customers what he is doing. He doesn’t know, he has not been consulted on this and is shocked himself. 
David has worked selflessly throughout Lockdown to keep the Post office open for his customers, often working on his own without any kind of break. 
Please help by signing this petition to stop this despicable proposal. 
Holway, Blackbrook & East Reach all had a Post Office, all were closed down.  
Population is increasing at an alarming rate. Blocks of flats have been built in Holway and Killams has a large, new, ever growing housing estate. Further developments are planned for the future.  Stoke St Mary, Staple Fitzpaine & Corfe have no Post Office. 
Mountfields is a very popular busy Post Office run by a very hardworking dedicated team. Customers come from far & wide to buy David’s wonderful greeting cards and essential stationery supplies. For some local customers it is their bank, their ‘safe place’ to go, a  friendly point of contact, the only place they can walk to. We cannot lose this.
