Hello you amazing supporters.
We’ve got some good news, some bad news and some exciting news for you.
The bad news:
David Cameron confirmed that the coalition will not be ratifying the Istanbul Convention before the election.
The good news:
We’ve cranked up the power on the campaign. Women’s Aid, Rape Crisis, Southall Black Sisters, the End FGM Network, the White Ribbon campaign and No More Page 3 have all pledged their support, and the petition has almost hit 2,000 signatures!
…which brings us on to the exciting news:
With just three weeks to go before the election, politicians are listening – yes, actually listening – to the public. They want our votes. If we can persuade them that ratifying the Istanbul Convention is something voters really care about, they’ll do it. So it’s time for us all to up the pressure.
Ask your local MP candidates to commit to promoting the Istanbul Convention if they are elected: http://icchange.co.uk/ic-change-general-election-pledge/
Together, we’re in a powerful position to get the next UK Government to take ending violence against women seriously. It only takes two minutes and could transform the lives of women and girls across the UK.
If you have any questions about doing this, please contact us on icchangeuk@gmail.com.
In hope and solidarity,
Robyn, Rebecca and the rest of the IC Change team
