Hello Everyone, Thanks to all of you who are signing the letter and sharing it with others. As Marsha Lederman reported in the Globe and Mail today, "Atwood, Boyden and another signatory, author Susan Swan, prepared a second, brief letter to 'set the record straight,' they wrote. “This inquiry should be interested in an outcome that provides fair treatment for Mr. Galloway and all those involved, including the women who registered complaints.” I have not yet seen this letter, but if it exists, it means that the counter-letter and your support is having a direct effect. We have also seen more signatories take their names off the letter, as we requested, including Camilla Gibb, Wayne Johnston and Miriam Toews. Many others are rethinking their decision to sign. We are making a difference! But the work here is not yet done, because the original letter has not been withdrawn or edited and there is no clarification on the UBC Accountable site. Joseph Boyden has not responded to my request for dialogue. And so, the letter stays open for signatures, and the pressure continues. I will put the signatures I have on the counter-letter today. If you said you could make your signature public, it will be there. I'll update the signature list each day. I'll be sharing the counter-letter with Joseph Boyden and UBC Accountable soon, with signatures on it. I'm humbled by your responses, and I know that many people in the CanLit community are taking strength from your messages of support in the comments. Thank you. Regards, Julie Rak
