Ursuline Academy has the day after the super bowl (feb. 14th) off
The Issue
We, the students of Ursuline Academy, would like to propose the idea of a day off school on Monday, February 14th, 2022 as the Cincinnati Bengals have advanced to the Super Bowl. The 56th annual Super Bowl will be held at 6:30pm EST on February 13th, 2022. As the Bengals have not been to a Super Bowl since 1988, this game is a big deal for a myriad of us in the Queen City. The concept of Ursuline Academy students and faculty alike having February 14th off school allows all of us to fully enjoy cheering on our Cincinnati Bengals without worrying about things such as getting the proper amount of sleep we need. The CDC indicates that 8-10 hours of sleep is the recommended amount for ages 13-18. Making the assumption that the Super Bowl game is a total of 4 hours, including halftime performances, it means the event would end at about 10:30pm. If a student were to go to bed by 11:00pm and wake up at 6:30am (approx.), that would be about 7 1/2 hours: just short of the recommended amount. Having the 14th off would allow students and faculty to make the most of the exciting and eventful night before. February 14th also happens to be Valentine’s Day. Having this day off would also grant us the ability to spend time with our families and loved ones. The students of Ursuline Academy recognize the weight of this request, and if the proposal is not possible. Nevertheless, we appreciate the time and consideration taken to hear out the student body of UA. Go Bengals!
