Petition updateSTOP Supermarket Waste

Food Waste Affects Us All

Do you like spending over $1,000 extra in food that is purposely marked up, then placed "on sale," when really you are just paying the same price before the mark-up. No sale. Supermarkets pass on the cost of throwing away TRILLIONS of TONS of fresh vegetables, fruit, nuts, legumes and dairy due to over-pricing, then food rot. The consumer pays for it. It's time congress passes a law to end this greedy, wasteful practice. When TONS of perfectly ripe bananas with "spots," are thrown away WEEKLY (as seen in the photo), then marking up the price of green bananas to defray the cost of produce waste should be a crime. Join us by signing. It costs you nothing, but saving the "perfect food" from being thrown away well-before it's truly rotten.
