New York #TamponTax ... #TweetTheReceipt

September 1st came and went ... the tampon tax has been lifted in New York! That's the good news. The bad news is that not all stores got the memo. New Yorkers, I have a favor to ask. Please buy a box and if you are charged sales tax do three things: 1. Speak up and tell the manager s/he is now ILLEGALLY collecting sales tax! 2. Snap a pic of the receipt and share it on social media with the hashtags #TweetTheReceipt and #TamponTax ... tag me (@jweisswolf) and Governor Cuomo (@NYGovCuomo) and I'll share too. 3. Go to this website to claim your refund: https://www.governor.ny.gov/news/governor-cuomo-announces-sales-and-use-tax-exemption-feminine-hygiene-products-now-effect If you're not in New York, please also post pics of a tampon/pad purchase receipt with the same hashtags ... tag your governor and reps and demand an end to the tampon tax in your state! Especially in CA where the bill awaits Governor Brown's signature. (Of course, if you live in an enlightened state that doesn't tax menstrual products -- see the map on the petition home page -- thank your legislators when you post your receipt :) And share this petition update too!
