I sent the following press release to 34 media contacts representing newspapers, radio stations, and political blog sites: For immediate release: Our petition is being forwarded to the U.S. Senate today. Immediately after Donald Trump was elected, it occurred to me that we could not allow the GOP to be rewarded for unjustly blocking the nomination hearings for President Obama’s selection for Supreme Court justice. It seemed like there could be no basis for moving forward on nominations to the court without honoring President Obama’s selection. I started a petition on Change.org and within the first week got the first hundred signatures. In 3 months, that has grown to over 129K. We stand in full support of a Democratic filibuster and urge those Republicans and Independents who respect Rule of Law to stand with us and the Democratic filibuster. Adam Broad, volunteer petition organizer ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well, folks, that's all I wrote. Thanks again for signing, getting other people to sign, and pushing me forward on this. I think as we continue to develop old school grassroots organizing through these technological aids we have on platforms like Change.org we will be more quickly informed and mobilized. Political messaging will not be as much of a top down thing as it has been. There's always been an interplay between the outside agitators and the partisan rank and file organizers. Here's hoping the developing process gets us to the promised land that Dr. King dreamed about. I hope to meet you out on the campaign trail or see you again on the internets. Keep the faith. In solidarity, A.B.
