College debt is a burden faced by 44 million Americans. Some student debt cannot be voided by declaring bankruptcy or even dying- this poses a large problem for many Americans because a bachelor's degree from a university is required to enter most middle level fields. Additionally, a college degree can be deemed essential when attempting to move into upper level job positions. 

The sole factor in the accumulation of student debt is high college tuition. Even many well off families cannot afford the average $10-20k tuition costs per year, much less lower income families and students looking for a way to utilize the American capitalist system. By lowering the cost of admissions, students will not be required to take on as many student loans, and many lower income students will have a greater opportunity to pursue a college education. If we can lower the tuition for US colleges we can move to end the racial and economic disparity in the US education system and work to provide a more equal opportunity to ALL hardworking students.

This is why I am starting this petition to lower college tuition. College tuition should be no more than $15,000 per year. Institutions should be more focused on the quality of education their students are getting, rather than outlandish facilities with sky-high costs.
