I have found the rates that result in either a surplus or extremely small deficit using Census Bureau data: arctan(ln(earnings)/e^2.82870019165956)/π arctan(ln(earnings)/e^4.2955813411658)/π arctan(ln(earnings)/e^4.46714719735)/π Depending on whether or not Credit Default Swaps are being taxed, and whether or not we are in debt. This could result in the Federal Debt being paid off in 2 years, if we use the first rate AND tax Credit Default Swaps! Otherwise, if we don't tax Credit Default Swaps, we will pay off our debts by maturity.
