Dear Supporters:

First, I want to thank everyone for their support of the U.S. Senator Joseph D. Tydings Memorial Prevent All Soring Tactics (PAST) Act with proposed revisions that would have achieved 90% of the original PAST Act and banned gruesome tail brace devices the original PAST Act didn't address. It's with a heavy heart that I share the effort to pass the bill in the Senate has failed, and it's over. The so-called Humane Society of the United States and the Humane Society Legislative Fund sewed enough confusion with key Democrats in the House and Senate that the clock has run out, and there will once again be no improvement of the quality of life for Tennessee Walking Horses. And, I don't know at this juncture that our efforts will be viable in 2021 with many of the dynamics changing. Meanwhile, the status quo that's existed since the Horse Protection Act was signed into law half a century ago last week still remains, while helicopter roundups of wild horses on the range the Humane Society pushed for continue. Check out Billy Go Boy's blog, and know the horses will continue to suffer because of the petulance of obstructionists who have no intention of ending soring, only fundraising to keep raking in the cash to maintain their fat cat high six-figure salaries.

Sadly,

Marty Irby
