Secure Broadcast Royalties for Artists and Musicians

Secure Broadcast Royalties for Artists and Musicians
The Issue
The majority of the U.S. House says that musicians should NOT be paid when their song is played on the radio.
The Local Radio Freedom Act continues the practice of not paying musicians when their music is broadcasted. The U.S. is the only developed country that sees this as fair practice. While songwriters and producers are paid, the artists and musicians at the heart of the music, do not receive royalties. This petition aims to change that.
By signing, you’re telling U.S. politicians that you believe musicians should be paid for their music when it is broadcasted on the radio. A simple gesture in solidarity for those creating art.
If artists and musicians continue to not be paid what they are owed by major companies (Big Radio is a $17 billion industry) then the content consumers receive will continue to dwindle and the music industry will see a further reduction in diversity and opportunity.
As musicians face a loss of income from multiple sides of the music industry (streaming, live performance, etc.) we ask that you make a stand against big radio’s interest to line their pockets further and help us put that money back into the hands of the musicians who created this art in the first place.
