The Issue

The US Postal Service has been around since 1775 when it was created during the Second Continental Congress, where Benjamin Franklin was appointed the first postmaster general. It is enshrined in Article I, Section 8, Clause 7 of the United States Constitution. It is the second largest employer of veterans in our country employing over 100,000 vets. The post office has become a necessity for many across the country and across the world. Whether it’s the elderly and veterans receiving life-saving medications, voting by our service members serving away from home, or even just sending letters to grandma, the post office has been an important aspect of American life since the beginning. Unfortunately Donald Trump has politicized the post office by appointing Republican millionaire donor Louis DeJoy, a man who has millions invested in competitors of the USPS. DeJoy has spent his short time as Post Master General, a job once held by one of our founding fathers, destroying the post office. He has removed mail drop boxes and mail sorting machines resulting in the delays of thousands of medications for veterans. He is using the post office as a means to steal this upcoming election for the President. We need to save the USPS to protect our democracy. Please sign our petition below and help us #SaveTheUSPS
