We have learned that the House leadership may not place the Emmett Till Act on the floor for a vote AS EXPECTED Monday after all! If they do not vote early this week, the Act is doomed for this Congress. There is bipartisan support pushing for it to be passed in House and Senate in time. They need to hear from you!!! We are asking those who signed onto our campaign to contact Speaker Ryan, Chairman McCarthy and your state representatives today! Here’s some suggested language you can use when you send a message or call: “The House needs to pass S. 2854, the Emmett Till Unsolved Civil Rights Crimes Reauthorization Act before they adjourn. It is noncontroversial and already passed by voice vote in the Senate. Republicans and Democrats of the House Judiciary Committee need to move this bill, so the Senate can fast track it this session!! Speaker Ryan and Leader McCarthy need to bring it to the Floor now. The Till Bill Reauthorization needs to be in place, in law, on the first day of the new administration.
