I'm lobbying for better laws to support survivors of sexual abuse and protect children from predators. It is important to contain this vile crime that is affecting and ruining the lives of so many innocent children. New York requires people who allege they were abused as minors to come forward by age 23. New York's statute-of-limitations laws have one of the shortest windows in the country for pursuing sexual-abuse complaints through the courts. It is imperative that the statute of limitations is removed in the United States. It's important for survivors of sexual abuse to feel validated, believed and for justice to be served. Healing only comes when a survivor finds validation and closure. The stats show more than 90% of the time, the abuser is someone kids know. It's important for Erin's law to pass in all states. Safety and education should start at home but what happens when at home these children are being abused? Then the school system has to take on this important task. Children need to be warned about the dangers and how to safely report if someone violates them. Jessica's law is the beginning steps to contain this terrible crime. Anyone who harms children should never be allowed to walk free again. And if they do then they should be monitored for life. Survivors of Sexual Abuse Resource and Protection Act is much needed. Sexual abuse survivors need lifetime support. I'm surprised about the amount of people that come to me searching for resources and they can't find help. I have many people from different states asking for several types of resources such as therapy and support groups at low cost or free. Sexual abuse never goes away but with proper therapy and support survivors can learn to live a balance and stable life. Please join me in this battle.
