We have 6,473 supporters and in need of more. This is a perfect example. This officer left his dog in the car all day. I am sorry but I am one who says you can not forget your child or pet is in the car. I mean how can you forget? This poor dog who suffered a heat stroke and died, should not be dead. The dog had been with law enforcement since 2010. These dogs will give their life for these officers and his partner forgot him. To me this is MURDER! This is what the officer can get if he gets the maximum. If convicted as charged, Whittier(the officer) could face a maximum penalty of a fine of up to $1,000 and up to six months in jail. Remember this dog is now Dead. Is this really enough punishment for killing his partner? This punishment is just not for officers, but for animal abusers. It is not enough to keep this from happening. Please go to: https://www.change.org/p/u-s-house-of-representatives-give-the-animals-rights Sign petition demanding stiffer punishment for all abusers as well as to get rid of kill shelters. Nothing against the employees who are doing their job but there are way too many animals being abused and/or killed every day. This has to be stopped. The animals need all of us to be their voice and speak up for them. After all they do so much for us. They help in our communities (going to hospitals and such), check for mines in wars so that our love ones can make it back home, they even help soldiers after they come home, fight crime with our officers, help people that are sick and handicap and so much more. Isn't it time for us to help them? Please Help, Sign, and Please Share! This is our petition so lets spread the word. Without you this petition is nothing. Thank you, P.S. In the article it states; "We are actively pursuing new technology wherein all K-9 units will be equipped with end-of-shift warning systems," Jensen said Tuesday. "Handlers will be forced to manually shut down the security system, and this system will give verbal warnings to the handler to remove the canine from the vehicle." It also states: "The internal investigation identified that policy and procedures were not followed resulting in the tragic death of Endy," Sheriff Chad Jensen stated in a Tuesday news release. "My administration has conducted a comprehensive review of our canine program, including equipment, care, welfare, daily maintenance and training. I believe our policies and procedures are sound. This incident was a result of human error and protocol violation." Sheriff's Office K-9 vehicles are equipped with safety features, as long as the vehicle is running. But the truck in which Endy died apparently was turned off. The sheriff said that if not manually shut down, the system's alarm — including horns, lights and sirens — will be activated. This incident was a result of human error. Either way this should had never happened. RIP Endy. Your free now, no more being in danger range. Run and be free! P.S.S. I am not saying all officers leave their pets in the car, I am saying that something like this should never happen, specially when they are not even on a call. They should remember that they have their partner in the car with them as it is something they should be use to it. I mean no one should ever leave their pet or child in a car! If they are only going to give the abusers a slap on the wrist, they will keep on abusing. Stiffer punishment is needed!
