Fight against potential government mandatory buyback for assault weapons!

The Issue

The term “assault weapon” did not exist in the terminology of firearms. It is a political term, developed by anti-gun publicists to expand the category of weapons. Gun rights fall under the second amendment. On September 13, former congressman Beto O’Rourke’s made an emphatic call during the Democratic debate for a mandatory buyback program for assault weapons, The House Republicans will always stand for the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms(Washington Post). What does this mean for Americans? Democrats and others believe that the AR-15s and assault weapons that look military should have a mandatory buyback that's not voluntary. This means if you have an assault weapon in your home it would be law that the government is allowed to take it. That is just a possibility that has been shown and hasn't happened yet, and we need to prevent it from ever happening.

According to “Isidewith” polls, more percent of the people that voted (all states), voted against the buyback of assault weapons. The percentage was 57% no to 43% yes. More than likely the mandatory buyback for assault weapons will not be accepted, but if it ever were to it would be disastrous. Do you think Americans are just gonna hand over their guns; Who’s to say authorities are even going to want to take them away. This would cause a huge spark in violence within America. Maybe even enough violence to cause “ A new Civil War”, stated Tucker Carlson on “The View”. This would risk a violent escalation of America's worsening culture war simply for the sake of outlawing a category of weapons that are involved in the low triple-digits of U.S. deaths in any given year. The gun murder and gun suicide rates in the U.S. are both lower today than in the mid-1970s. According to “Pew Research”, there were about 4.6 gun murders per 100,000 people in 2017, however there were about 7.2 per 100,000 people recorded in 1974. The number of deaths due to guns may seem like it is rising but you must take in account the nations growing population.

Beto O’Rourke and other democrats are jumping the gun here with their mandatory calls for the government buyback of assault weapons. What will you do in the face of the inevitable mass rebellion? What is your Plan B? This call to order will cause America so much panic. Some people only have their assault weapons to protect them. A matter of fact the AR-15, the firearm that everyone calls an “assault weapon,” is the most popular rifle on the market today, If the government takes away “assault weapons'', they are violating the second amendment. According to the Constitution, the second amendment states'' the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed”. The mandatory buyback would go directly against that. Furthermore Beto O'Rourke stressed that his mandatory buyback would “not be voluntary”. This means that government officials could storm your home to take your guns away without your consent, and you can’t do anything about it.

This is not the world we want to live in. The government must not let this call for mandatory buyback of assault weapons pass. The second Amendment was made for the purpose for precautionary measures for if the government ever got out of hand, and now the government is trying to remove it. We as people need the second amendment, and shall not let it be withdrawn. Stand with the second amendment not against it.
