Florida Panther petition passes 2000 signatures!
Just wanted to let folks know that in only two short days, this petition has sailed past 2,000 signatures. A big thanks to everyone for caring, signing and for sharing this. Let’s keep the momentum going.

The 45,000-acre development area we are fighting touches nearly every piece of public land that is the core home of the Florida panther – the OK Slough State Forest, Dinner Island Wildlife Management Area, Big Cypress National Preserve, Florida Panther National Wildlife Refuge, Picayune Strand State Forest, and the Corkscrew Regional Ecosystem Watershed (CREW) Lands. It’s also very close to the beautiful Fakahatchee Strand Preserve State Park. Years of studies tracking panther movement in South Florida show that panthers pay no attention to the boundaries we put down on maps – they move into and out of these public lands at will. But if massive new subdivisions and heavily trafficked roads are placed at their doorstep – their world will soon become a poorer and far more dangerous place.
South Florida Wildlands has been fighting for panthers and their habitat since our founding in 2010. Folks who want to support this fight beyond this petition to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, might want to consider a tax-deductible contribution to our organization.
