Dear Supporters,
As part of my research into a lawsuit against Ford for manufacturing vehicles with defective LED headlights, I discovered that 49 U.S. Code § 30118(e) allows an individual to petition NHTSA to conduct a hearing into whether a manufacturer has properly notified NHTSA about defective equipment. On June 30, 2025, I submitted a petition to NHTSA, requesting that that NHTSA conduct such a hearing. (https://www.softlights.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/NHTSA-Petition-for-Ford-Headlights-Hearing.pdf).
If I don't receive a positive response within 30 days, then I'll probably file a lawsuit against Ford and NHTSA for failing to comply with 49 U.S. Code § 30118.
Sincerely,
