August 9, 2024 – The Soft Lights Foundation submitted a regulatory petition to the California Department of Motor Vehicles to prohibit the use of supplemental LED flashing lights on motor vehicles.

The petition focuses on the U.S. Constitution's 14th Amendment Equal Protection Clauses which requires that the California DMV act to protect individuals with disabilities from suffering non-epileptic and epileptic seizures, migraines, anxiety, panic attacks, impaired vision, decreased cognitive functioning, and suicidal ideations when exposed to LED flashing lights on police cars, ambulances, fire trucks, garbage trucks, tow trucks, and utility vehicles.
