Dear Supporters,
Here is a link to a just-released report from the General Accountability Office on food prices and actions by the FDA: https://www.gao.gov/assets/gao-23-105846.pdf The report gives you a sense of what the GAO does.
Notice at the top it says, "Report to Congressional Requesters". Our goal right now is to have our Congressperson(s) request a report from the GAO on the lack of regulation of LED products by the FDA. How does the FDA justify their failure to publish performance standards for LED products? What specific issues are causing the FDA to delay approving petition FDA-2022-P-1151 to regulate LED products? Does the FDA acknowledge that LEDs emit a directed energy beam of visible radiation that does not disperse following an inverse square law? What is the status on publishing performance standards such as maximum peak luminance for LED vehicle headlights?
I contacted my Congressperson Ami Bera last week and I am expecting to discuss this issue with a staffer this coming week. I will be requesting a GAO investigation and report. The more of us who make the same request, the better our chances will be.
You can help our cause by calling your Congressperson's office in Washington, D.C. and ask the staffer to ask the Representative or Senator to send a letter to the General Accountability Office requesting a report on the hazards of LED visible radiation and the FDA's lack of performance standards for LED products.
Sincerely,
Mark Baker
